My journey to playing music for other people started 7 years ago. I've always had an interest in music and good sound, and jumped at the chance to pick up a pair of Tannoy M3000 studio monitors for a great price. Most UK music made in the 70s/80s was monitored on Tannoy studio monitors. Big Tannoys are way too big for your average house. This didn't put me off and our dining room became a music studio. My sister-in-law gave me a disco lightbulb for Xmas one year, and we started holding parties for friends and family.

Fast forward 7 years and I have a PA system and array of disco lights I couldn't have dreamed of then. I play through a fully active system, comprising a pair of 15 inch mains and if your venue will take it, a pair of 18 inch subs. I like to play loud. A lot of pop and dance music needs to be a whole body experience, and if you wish, we can blow the roof off most venues.

Enough hardware, how about some music? I lived through and loved the music of the late 70s, 80s, Disco, Punk, Ska second wave/2tone, then New Wave, New Romantics, Electro-pop and 80s R+B. My own tastes are based around this, but of course there's amazing music from all eras. I don't think it's possible to ever stop finding great new tracks, now or from the past.

So having rediscovered a love of music, I had what felt like a impossible task. I had to work my way through 3 decades of music I had missed out on. And what a joy it has been!

I'm not hard to please. A great song needs first an infectious beat. If it's funky, so much the better. I like conventional song structures, and songs with a chorus. Even better a great melody. I hear the music and rhythm first, the vocals second, and if the song's telling a story it's a nice bonus. Like I said , easy to please. If a song makes me wanna move, it's a good song. Songs in any genre can tick those boxes.

It’s really about the tracks, and not about me. I'm not gonna annoy with too much chit-chat or clever club DJ style edits/mixes. I try and let the music speak for itself. I'm not a club-style DJ. I play a traditional mobile disco, and I want you to share my joy by dancing to some great music.

Talk to me about what you want. Your playlist or mine, or a mix of the two. I love what I do and want to play as much as I can. You won't get a show like mine for anywhere near the same price. In fact if you are a legitimate charity and have a decent sized venue, I may play for free!
